THE OBSTACLES

Thoughts as I move forward to replace the nonrecyclable plastic clamshell packages with my eco-friendly design about the obstacles to success. Open to suggestions!

LACK OF FULL VISIBILITY
Some consumers have said they like the full disclosure of the plastic produce packages (even though I just bought a quart one and two of the strawberries in the middle were soggy.) What if there a 100% Goodness Guaranteed policy on the box? I, as a grower, would stand behind that, would you? Consumers how do you feel?

LACK OF KNOWING WHO DECISION MAKERS ARE
Last week at a Meijer Dayton store my aunt picked up a pint of berries. The corner of the plastic clamshell package opened. She chose a different one and as she was putting that one in her cart, this clamshell also opened and the contents spilled all over. Instead of employees having to clean up poor quality plastic companies’ messes whose packages cannot be recycled anyway by normal humans, would a store ever consider this Half Pint package chosen for the sustainably-minded Super Bowl:
